A: Calliden Insurance Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Calliden Group, and is an Australian general insurer specialising in manufacturing general insurance products for individuals, the SME sector and groups across metro and regional Australia.
Calliden Insurance Limited is a member of the Insurance Council of Australia, supports the industry Code of Practice and is also a member of the Financial Ombudsman Service.

A:Calliden Group is one of four general insurers listed on the Australian Stock Exchange: Calliden Group Ltd, IAG, QBE and Suncorp-Metway, but is the only one considered a niche specialist and a start-up – Calliden has been operating since April 2005.
Q:What are Calliden’s target markets?
A: To date, Calliden has developed particular expertise in the non-standard motor (eg. prestige car), construction, and cultural & recreational services sectors.
However, we have the capability to write a broad range of insurance products and will work together with our intermediary partners to develop insurance solutions for a particular customer segment.
Calliden’s acquisition of Australian Unity Limited’s general insurance business deepens our penetration of SME and personal lines markets, including prestige house and rural/regional insurance.

A: Calliden is derived from the latin adjective “callidus”, and can be translated as versatility, skillfulness and experience. Our name was chosen to represent the values we aspire to in our business operations.
The colour purple was chosen to tie in with marketing concept of a “purple cow” – i.e. something that stands out from the crowd and is remarkable.
